Pros and Cons
I'm getting my first "for me" gun in the next few days. This will be my EDC gun once I get my CPL.
I had settled on the XD45c for a number of reasons over some of the other poly guns out there and going to the range to test drive one.
I do find myself with a bit more money in the budget than originally expected so I am now considering the 3.8" XDm Compact as well.
I've seen some generic xd vs xdm comparisons but they're usually comparing 9mm guns. Can you guys give me the Pros and Cons of the XD vs the XDm other than the roughly $90 difference in the 45ACP?

Is the upgraded trigger nice enough to not replace? I was planning on using one of the drop in kits if I got the XD.

I love my 45c. Same size as a G19 & here, I get onyll 10rds anyway. It's a bit thicker than my 1911PD but the grip is a tiny bit shorter so conceals fine in a good IWB holster like the MTac.

Yeah the size was a HUGE reason for getting the XD instead of the Glock (that and I wanted the grip safety).
It seems I can find the XDm for $539 online and the regular XD for $503 so I'm thinking I might be getting the XDm then.
Does anyone have experience with Sportsman Outdoor Superstore?

Just ordered a 3.8" XDM compact Bi-Tone. I stop into the LGS/FFL today before I ordered to see if they were close in price (over $150 more). He offered to FFL transfer it (they advertise online). I ask if he needs anything before I order he says no, just call once you order it so he could send his FFL to them.
I call after I order it and he needs Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore's address and FFL number from me before he'll send them his information. Is this normal?

You get a faster reset on the XDm trigger, a better trigger in general, better grip, match barrel. I owned both XD and XDm and for me the M is worth the extra money.

Now I think a little differently. I shoot my XDm40 compact just fine, but not appreciable better than my XD45c, 9sc, or 40sc.
I should have spect the money on triggers and sights for the base XD models I own.

I've had an XD .45 Compact for 2 years now as my EDC gun. My son liked it so much, that HE bought one. Yes, it is darn near same size as a G19. It is an easy to learn gun and fun to shoot at the range. Just for fun, I bought another XD last Father's Day, same FDE frame and black slide, but this one is a XD .45 Compact Tactical, with the short frame of the compact and a 5" barrel/slide. I think this gun may be more accurate than my G21 or 1911. XD or XDm? Handle both guns, and shoot them if you have the chance. The difference in price between the XD and XDm is not the issue. Some of us still prefer the ergonomics and simplicity of the original XD.
