Xd45 Magazine Bulging

Ok so this is the second XD I've had this issue with and I've searched around and haven't found a whole lot on this. So I'm asking everyone here to pull our heads together and find out what is going on. Have bought brand new magazines and after a few hundred rounds or so the magazine catch gets bulged out causing the magazine to not fall freely on its own when you push the magazine release button. It's almost like the explosion when firing the gun causes it to bulge out a little. I had the same problem on my XD 40 subcompact.

I sent the XD 40 mags to Springfield and they happily sent me two brand new ones but again after firing it several hundred times or less they ended up doing the same thing. I've also stopped loading 10+1 as someone else suggested in the 45 compact version but that hasn't stopped or fixed the problem either.

Oddly enough though if you just tap the magazine on the front with a hammer it will bend the magazine back so it doesn't catch anymore but just for a short while. So what could it possibly be?

Have you taken the mag catch out of the gun and inspected it for burrs, etc.? When you depress the mag release with a mag in the gun, is it smooth or do you feel a clicking? I don't see any way this could be a result of firing the gun. The magazine would have to move backwards in the frame and there is simply no room for this to happen. I'm thinking you have a poorly machined or deformed mag catch in the gun, so each time you press the release the catch is snagging on the hole in the mag and eventually causing the bulge. However, as these are stainless steel mags, I would think you would really feel something snagging badly enough to bend the metal.

Other than the magazine issues the gun has always run flawlessly. I just called Springfield and they sent me a shipping label to get it sent in. While its there I'm going to have there custom shop upgrade the trigger as well. I think the problem will be easily fixed and solved.
