Slide in Forward Position
This is the third time I took my XD.45 acp Tactical in the range. 2X today the slide is in the forward position even though theres no more ammo chambered or in the magazine. Whats wrong with my gun? I really love tha accuracy and handling of my gun. I am just a bit worried about the latest hiccup. Please advice..thanks

Please explain in more deail the "issue" your having. Are you saying the slide is not going into baterry (Loading a bullet in the Chamber), Are you saying that the slide does NOt lock back after the last bullet of a magazine has been fired or that the slide is glued/frozen ?

I am NOt an XD expert. I know a little more about 1911's, but What I can suggest, is to first mark you magazines...and track what kind of ammo your using when this happens.
but most importanly, my experince has been thatsome FTL, are cause by the user. I am not accusing you, but make sure your support hand (Weak hand/Left Hand) is not pushing your strong hand (Right hand) thumb against the Slide lock/release. A good test, after a good clening of the unloaded weapon, is to single hand shoot the pistol, and see is this issue re-surfaces. Try loading the mag's with fewer bullets too, see if it is the mag. and Switch to other ammo, to eliminate the ammo as the posible cause. These are just suggestions. Please let us know how is goes. |

Are you right handed? If so, shoot a mags worth with your left hand. If the slide still does not lock back after the last shot, follow the advice in the above posts.
