What Law Enforcement Agencies are Using the XD .45?

Just curious. THe .45 XD seems to be perfect for tactical and swat.

I think we have discussed this before and the outcome was that a few agencies have the XD-45acp in trials. A few more allow officers to carry what they can qualify with (like mine ) with officers who carry the 45 (like me ) but to date I have not heard of an agency issuing any XD on a large scale.

Yeah, I pretty much leave it in my locker now during days off, so I don't carry it to court (snubnose .38 for that) or anything but if I am in uniform my XD-45 is with me.

I started out with an XD-9 that I bought to go to the academy with, but upgraded to the .45 as soon as I could. I bought one of the first .45s in CA and am the first cop I know of to carry one here.

What my dept allows.

My dept. allows u to carry so long as the the firearm is from a reputable manf and u qualify. I just bought the .45 xd 5" to carry on duty and now I'm just waiting for the next qualifying session to start. Im currently carrying the Glock 21.

As you will carry every day, do you carry with a full mag, or download by 1 or 2 rounds.

I know that may sound weird because you want all the rounds you can get, but some officers seem to load a full mag and chamber the top round to download by one, the thinking being that feed reliability is enhanced for magazines that are fully loaded every day.

My old agency required a completely full magazine + one in the chamber. Of course, they also mandated DAO pistols.
