XD45ACP Recoil vs. All-steel 1911
How does the recoil of the XD45acp Service and XD45acp Tactical compare to a 5 inch all steel 1911 ? I know this is subjective, but for those of you have have shot an XD and a 1911 in 45acp....how do they compare in your opinion ?

The all steel 1911 feels "softer". To me it's probably due to the steel frame adding some weight to the gun.

I don't see much difference in the two either. The barrels of the two are about the same distance above the hand......so, if using identical loads, the weight of the pistols is about the only factor that CAN make a difference. Since we're not talking about a round that is known for heavy recoil, it's questionable that the comparative difference will amount to a lot.
Now, if we were talking about 10mm, or some other round known for recoil, the difference will be very noticeable. hog ![]()

In my mind, the XD recoils softer than the 1991A1 that I own. And I shot these two side by side for comparison purposes.
My perspective only. You asked.

I am digging that makarov hog!! Nice collection. And to avoid a complete hijack, I have not fired the XD 45 acp, sorry no input.

My Springfield loaded 1911 and the XD-45 Tactical have very similar recoil. The 1911 seems to be just slightly less, but that very well could be because I expect it to be less.

for me it's night and day different. I feel the 1911 are MUCH softer, this of course is my and my 19 years old daughter personal opinion. My wife has not shot the XD, but will this weekend.
Is slightly more than a Kimber Tactical Pro II (Aluminuim frame), but much less than the Walther P99 (40 cal) or the Glock 21. When I say, "much", I mean MUCH more than a Wilson Combat CQB, type 1911's. |

Really subjective!!! For me, the recoil of the ACP Service compared to my Commander size 1911s is really no difference. I don't have an ACP Tactical to compare to.
