stock sight issues...

Ok, I know what many of you are going to say-"it's YOU, dummy!" I accepted that as a likely possibility but, after about 1400 rounds, I'd say it's the damn gun. My problem is that my gun shoots to the left(and yeah I'm right handed). No matter what I do, my shots end up about 3" left if I aim dead center. I've changed my trigger finger position, breathing, and I've focused on smoothly pulling the trigger stright back. It just shoots left and I'm convinced that my factory sights are off.
So how can I adjust them? I've attempted to use a small hammer to drift it to the right just a little bit, but it won't budge and I certainly don't want to damage anything. As a matter of fact, it seems like my sights are welded in, they're so tight. Is there a special tool I need? If so, where can I get one?

And one more thing: My front sight gets really dirty as I shoot the gun, and after about 50 rounds, I can't see the dot at all. And it's a pain to clean-the best I've had it since new is a "dull beige," by laboriousely swirling q-tips on the dot. Anyone know of any tricks to cleaning it?

..It's not you. I put mine on a stand/Vice and confirmed that it did shoot to the left and slightly down. I am having this corrected, by install new sights (truglo TFO) and my "Smith" will adjust properly.

I thought I had that problem corrected. I figgured it was just me. But the last 2 times at the range, There it was again. I need some better sight's so I will correct it when I install the new one's. Problem is, I don't know I don't know what one's to buy to replace the stock one's with. Other than that, I cant find a thing wrong with my 45 ACP Tactical!

This (IMHO) is the weak link on the wepon system. I choose to go with Truglo TFO's, they are good for night and day, sights. Others have selected the Metropolights (Many of my 1911's have these). Look in this forum, and you will find pictures of both on XD's.

hmmm. Well, truglos would be nice, but even if I had the money for them(which I don't) I'd want to install them myself. I noticed that Sig sells a rear sight tool here:

Does anyone know of a less-expensive version that works well with our guns?

That is the less expensive version... The other one is more than twice that...

My XD45 shoots 3" left also. None of my other pistols shoot left. I just installed Truglos so we will head to the range and see where it groups now.

(You need a big punch to move the stock sights. They are the tightest I have EVER seen.)

I really don't like mailing my guns around, but it looks like a ship to CC is in order...and of course, while it's there, it may as well get a trigger job and some truglos...ugh...time to pull the credit card

This is probably the best value in universal sight pushers.

Woah, actually, that looks pretty good. It looks like it'll work with just about any dovetailed sight autos too...I wonder if it's stout enough to push the stockers out? I might have to try it...Thanks for the heads up!
