Wolf and my 45= not good

This past weekend my bro in law and I took our dad in law out shooting, he's 73 and a Korean war vet.

He loved it. He used my XD 45ACP. burned thru about 200 rounds of wolf ammo I got at Cabellas in one of those 450 round tins. That was/is some of the worst stuff I have run thru that gun. Stove pipe, FTL FTE failure to cycle the slide all the way. At first I thought it was just him, then I ran about 30 rounds thru it and had the same thing happening.

Wolf may work for you (hobocircus), but my 45ACP did not like it at all. now I just need to burn thru the remainder of it.

Just curious, was the Wolf ammo in the can the gray shell case, polymer coated that comes in the 50rnds boxes? Just wondering since there have been lots of reports with the laquor (sp?) coated cases "gumming up" the works so to speak, and the polymer coated ammo works fine.

So far I have ~200 rnds of the polymer coated (gray case) Wolf with zero problems. Maybe I'm just lucky so far

Box of 50, steel case, grey in color. Came in the big sardine can of 450 rounds from Cabellas, cost 89.95 plus tax.

Sorry about your luck Tec.
My tactical has probably had more rounds of wolf thru it than all the rounds of "the good stuff" put together. No failures of any kind.

I've only put a box of Wolf through my .45, but it ate it just fine. I've tried I think 8 different ammo manufacturers (including some range reloads) and haven't had a hiccup. Weird the way such small tolderances in a gun can cause such big differences.

I wouldn't shoot Wolf because Springfield recommends against it (see below) and I have read mixed reviews elsewhere. I also read that the steel case does not expand as much as brass on ignition so the chamber gets even dirtier than usual with extra buildup. For just $0.20 more you can run CCI Blazer (aluminum) that is much cleaner and doesn't have all of the negatives.

Springfields email to me....
=================
We recommend quality, commercially produced ammo. Do not use reloads, soft point, light magnum or any ammo that will stick to a magnet.

hmm

I have put over 3500 rounds of wolf 9mm and .45 through my SW 5946, Glock 19, SA XD45ACO, and SA 1911 GI45.

The only malfunction I ever had was one time, in the 1911 it jammed a round nose in against the feed ramp.

What did you expect? cheap ammo is just that, CHEAP! I have never used Wolf and would never try it in the future.

Clean brass cases are the only kind that goes in any of my pistols.

Howdy,

Send it back to Wolf. I just sent 750 rounds back to them (1 full tin and 3/4 tin).

They will send you out a UPS call tag and supposedly refund your money.

Wolf got the ammo yesterday, we'll see if I get an email or a call.

I sent it back because how ridiculously dirty it was. Took me a few hours to clean my barrel after shooting 150 rounds through it. No thanks.
