looking for 5inch slide for my 4 inch
Hey guys,
Is there any body that is selling extra slides for the XD-45? I got the standard 4 Inch xd-45 and Im looking to get an extra 5 inch tac slide. My reason is so I can squeez some more accuracy when I'm at the rang. And if I want to ccw it I can put on my 4inch slide back on. |

Just a couple of comments here, and I don't mean to seem condescending to you so pleae don't take it that way.
1.) The added accuracey of 1" barrel length can not be enjoyed shooting off hand at the range. It's just not possible. You might see some mild improvement in accuracy on a ransom rest but probably not enough to mention. The additional sight radius increase of the longer slide may give you a little more fine tuning on the target but again, not enough to even notice. 2.) The primary advantage of a longer barrel is velocity, which relates to a better defensive hand gun. The added velocity of the longer barrel is the number one reason to want one but you say you don't want to carry it so this reason is negated. 3.) The biggest problem with concealing a pistol properly is not the barrel length but the butt length. The extra 1" on the slide won't have any effect underneath typical concealment clothing. Knocking and inch off the butt, however, would make a dramatic difference in printing. My ideal carry pistol would have a nice long barrel, like 5" and a short but, say a ten round double stack .45 ACP. I just can't see a full size carry gun getting any better than this. Good luck though, I hope you find what you are looking for. I certainly can appreciate the cool factor of having interchangeable slides for different purposes. |

Nothing available at this time, would venture to guess that it will never be an option unless you take a slide from someone who blew up their frame or from another gun that you own.

While it's true the accuracy and velocity changes from 4 to 5" are small, the increased sight radius makes a big difference to ME in precision shooting. The feel is slightly more muzzle-heavy and small aiming differences are amplified, improving the total gun control.
If I had the 4" I wouldn't sell it to get the 5", but I have the 3" and the 5" and there is a BIG difference there. Isn't the 1911 stock barrel 5" long? Hmmmm..... |

if i'm not mistaken, the tactical has a different frame, i'm not sure the slide would even mate up with your service frame.

First off, Springfield is in the market of selling guns, not slides or even barrels. If they sold slides and barrels you could reslide (or barrel) your XD9 with a XD-40 slide and have two guns for the price of one and a half. Not sound business for Springfield to do this. How do I know this? This is what Springfield told me! I had an XD-9 ported model and I didn't like the ported part of it. So I called them and they told me they wouldn't sell be a non-ported barrel. This all happened last year when I was at Camp Perry so I went to speek to the manager and told him my story. I told thim that I wanted a non ported barrel to put in my ported gun. When I told him that the factory wouldn't sell me one I said that I'm selling my XD and was going to buy a Glock. He said that if I was unhappy with my XD I could bring it to him and he would make the deal right. So that next week I brought my XD ported to him and he said pick any gun on the table and he'd to a manufacturers exchange. He said the Springfield wants happy owners and if it's a non ported gun that will make me happy then so be it. So I got a new XD 9 non ported and I've been very happy ever since. Yes I like Springfield! (oh, I did buy the Glock anyway!)
