Laser for the XD 45?
Has anyone found a laser that will fit and function correctly on their XD 45's? I went out and shot a buddy of mine's SIG with laser, and it was amazing. I am hooked. The brand on his weapon was crimson something I think. I did some research and that company, and it does not have laser sights for the XD just yet. Anyone able to give me some suggestions for a quality laser grip for my XD 45?
Thanks!!

Crimson Trace is the company that your buddy's Sig has, they dont have a grip for the xd45 yet. Lasermax is supposed to have an internal unit that will take the place of the guide rod. It should be out soon....I hope. They currently have one out for the compact XD's but not the 45 yet.

Since our XD's don't have grips you probably wouldn't want a Crimson Trace style. As mentioned above the internal guide rod replacment Lasermax is most likely a better choice. No ETA set for its release yet though.
Right now your only reasonable options are the units that mount on your tactical rail. You can get laser only units or laser/flashlight combination units. Glock makes one, Surefire makes one as do many others. Below are a few examples; ![]() ![]() |

While at the gunshop purchasing my new XD45, the shop owner called Lasermax to inquirre about the internal laser for the 45. The rep told him to expect them around late November or early December.

Lasers are great for dry fire training, but are not that practical for everyday carry due to the fact there are almost no holsters designed to have the laser mounted to the pistol.
I think they are a waste of money that could be spent on real training Skygun9

I understand what you mean about lasers being a novelty but on a pistol like my S&W Airweight that has virtually no sights to speak of they are a very helpful tool. |

Still they are super good for dry firing and getting your trigger technique down pat. Skygun9

I believe that laser's are an important part of any weapon system. I'm an "Old 1911" guy, but After seing what Lasers can do/add to defensive shooting, I for one,can not go back. Just my personal view.
In the last 2 years, I've added to my training/workout ritual. the last 2 mags are always for Laser and Low light work. Just a add-on to the process. |

I have to agree with skygun. I don't really see the need for them. After training to use the sights for so many years with no problems, why change? Low light? Hey, I've got 3 glowing green dots out there on my night sights. Used 'em for training and think they can be useful, but not enough for the price you pay for them. Money better spent on some snap caps and a few cases of ammo. YMMV
