How does my xd 45 compare to my 1911 mil spec
I shot both my 1911 and my xd 45 this weekend to find out which gun I was more accurate with. Because of a lack of room my target was 14 yards. I found that I could hit the bulls eye if I took my time with the xd. However when I shot my mil spec .I was not as accurate. I believe I tend to flinch with the short trigger pull anticipating the gun going off. But with the trigger on the xd I seem to hold it steadier. I put a wilson combat bushing on my mil spec and a target trigger. I know the gun is accurate, and understand it's me that has a hard time controlling the 1911. I'm a huge 1911 fan but found myself shooting the xd fine out of the box. I can still hold a 3 inch group with the 1911 but I can hit the center with the xd. And the really funny thing is I shoot my xd 40 sc better than all. I guess there is less grip to milk . I want get rid of my 1911 but I sure have a larger respect for the xd 45.

If anything I'd shoot the Mil-Spec better, but it's probably pretty even. My Mil-Spec was so nice to shoot and so accurate that I did a bunch of work on it and now it's really a good shooter.
So to me picking up my new XD 45 and shooting it as well as my 1911's says alot about the XD.

I still shoot the 1911 a little bit better than my XD-45. But I've shot 1911s since 1980. I've owned an XD-45 for only about ten days. It and a Glock 29 bought in the same week were my first ever polymer framed guns!
For a 4" gun it's showing reasonable accuracy, and that is all I expect from this sidearm. If it shoots to 4" at 25-yards I'm satisfied. ![]()

Whatever works for you best. One thing is for sure, you will never shot better than the gun can perform.
