Well, I would say that the OD or FDE models would be a better choice than black for folks that go hunting with them. When I go deer hunting, I always carry a .45 ACP with me (in ND, and pistol that uses a legal rifle cartridge, defined as .22 centerfire or larger so since an Auto Ordnance Thompson would be legal, a .45 ACP is legal in pistols as well) as a backup. Of course there may have been a time that a pistol came in handy when I left my rifle on the hill while I stepped down the ravine to visit the men's bush, came upon a doe and dropped her with a round from a .45 pistol...but lets leave out the part about me leaving the rifle on the hill like a dumb-ass in the first place, ok.

The thing about the XD is the shiny magazines the reflect every bit of light that hits them which is why I tend to stick with my Glock 21 or USP-45. Why Springfield won't sell blackened magazines is beyond me but that's another topic. Right now I still have an OD XD-45 Tactical I got when I was stationed in NC but being back out west, a FDE model wouldn't be a bad choice either.
