Had a so so day at the range.

I went to the range early Saturday morning with 200 rounds; 100 rounds of WWB and 100 of CCI Blazer that I picked up from Wally mart. I went through the first 100 (WWB) no problems; loaded up the mag's from the first CCI Blazer box (50 rounds) shot them and had only one nose down jam. I figured I didn't seat them right or something. I cleaned my XD45 after that box of 50 and opened the next CCI Blazer box.
Five shots in it started doing the nose down jams. One right after another. I unloaded the XD45 and mag's, field stripped and cleaned the XD45 again, double checked all 4 mag's, then loaded up again. Same thing happened again this time I was 9 rounds into the first mag. I tried different mags and it would happen at different times. The only consistant thing is once it happened it kept doing it till I was empty or unloaded.
I bought some reloads because now I was worried I did something wrong in reassembling the XD45. It shot all 50 of the reloads without one hiccup.

The range officer said it could be a bad batch of ammo and tried them in his 1911. He could not get more than one shot without a jam, but he did say his 1911 is real picky about ammo. Another shooter said it could have been old ammo or it could have got wet in storage.

Old ammo? Wet? I don't know, the box looks like the first, but it does have a different batch number on it. Just don't know why but this box of CCI Blazers, which I have shot before, to put it plainly sucks with my XD45.

Weird is all I can say. ANYWAY, except for that box everything was great.

I haven't really heard of any failures with the XD until now. Since the same thing was experienced with a different gun, I sure wouldn't worry about it being the XD's fault.

My thinking is that if it jams in 2 guns its going to be the ammos fault. If other ammo shoot fine in the gun, then it's definatly the ammo. But all I shoot are WWB and CCI Blazer Brass and have never had a FTE or FTF on my 45.

The only time I have had a feed problem with any of my guns (Sig, XD, CZ) is when I've had bad ammo. I inspect mine very closely now. Any kind of mishapen case shouldn't go in the gun.

I'm going to start reloading .45 in particular, so I have more control over what goes in the gun.

Good luck.

My mags didn't like wolf's steel cased ammo.
The blazer brass jammed as well.

However, WWB, blazer aluminum, remington UMC, winchester rangers JHP, all fed and fired flawlessly. Just some feedback.

Ammo.

I would get more WWB Ammo. and give it another range shoot. I have quit using Blazer Ammo.

Well like I said, I had just shot 50 rounds before of the CCI's with only one jam. And over the last month I had shot probably another 200 rounds of CCI and 400 rounds of WWB with no jams.

Yesterday was the first time it happened. It just confused me why I'm only having problems with this box of ammo. Plus I was worried I did something to the gun when I cleaned it at the range.

I will say that between the WWB and CCI, I have noticed that the CCI seems dirtier (?) as it really leaves the gun powered residue on the end of the barrel in my experience.
