Future XD-45 ACP owner
Hello all, I will soon be a future owner of the service model. I kinda wish I had bought the tactical model, but it's to late now. I spent a little more than some of you, but these things are selling like hot cakes in CA. They sales guys were talking about how they just got these XD 45 ACP's in and had already sold six of them and had just recieved a second shipment that day. The wife and I went to the down stairs to shoot the XD 40 and a G17. While we down there they sold two XD 45's. I went ahead and made the third XD 45 sale of the day. Paid 554, yeah it hurts a little, but oh well.
I'm kind of new to the sceen and this topic may have been discussed, but what type of ammo do you all suggest for range targets?
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Congrats on the new 45, I m new to this 45 as well but from what ive gatherd for target practice Winchester white box 230 gr. FMJ and the Blazer Brass. Ive already shot 500 rounds of the Winchester with no FTF, shot 100 rounds of blazer brass today and no FTF as well. You can buy these at walmart

Welcome to the forum. Yep, WWB will do you just fine, and it's probably the easiest to find. You'll like the service model, it's great for "all around" shooting (home defense, carry, target plinking), and will be plenty accurate for you.

WWB and Wolf seem to be popular choices. I use Wolf in my RIA 1911 with good results, but it remains to be seen as to how they will perform in my XD (when I get it).

I am very happy I went with the Service as it does double duty as a target and when-needed, IWB carry weapon. TheTactical is more of a one-trick, maybe two-trick pony- competition and/or tactical carry. I doubt if I will ever get a Tactical (it doesn't address my needs) but would be interested in an XD45 compact. Bottom line, whether you get a Service or a Tactical, you are getting one helluva fine weapon. Enjoy.

Well I feel a little better
Hay, kraigster414 thanks for the words about the service model, now I feel a lot better about my purchase. Question, what is that you have on your grips? Some kind of tape or something?

I could be way off base but I believe that is the famous Kraigster grip (patent pending) . To us mortals I think it's bicycle tube.
