Weekend of Fun!

My extra mags from Whittiker came in last week, so I went to my first ever IDPA shoot this weekend. LOTS of fun and the gun made it easy to look good. There were a few other XD shooters, but I think I was the only one shooting the new 45acp. The other XD shooters had 9's 40's and one GAP shooter. I was shooting the 45acp Service. The gun fuctioned flawlessly. I was VERY pleased with how easy it was to quickly and accurately engage the targets at all distances. At the moment, the gun is completely stock from the factory, no mods at all. I am planning on putting on some TruGlo TFO's and I might have Canyon Creek do a 4# carry trigger job on it. I also plan on getting a Braveheart holster from KyTac and some mag carriers. All in all, this little gun is flat out FUN and a real pleasure to compete with.

Great fun keep going you will only get better. I am shooting CDP but am going to start shooting ESP as well to get more trigger time.

Yes, I shot in ESP. Since the XD is a single action pistol with a safe-action trigger, it cannot be used in SSP. And since I was shooting a bone stock XD, I was not going to have myself put into CDP. And the mods I have planned will still allow me to shoot ESP. One of the reasons I will probably have Canyon Creek do a carry trigger job on my XD is because I figure "If the action is SA, why have a trigger that feels more like a DA pull?"

I know the XD is in ESP by default. I was not sure if CDP will allow a double-stack gun. I am glad you love it. My XD has been a ESP machine for two years now, and this year, I am going for broke (whatever that means).
