i love the 45 acp xd but....
i think springfield is screwing up i was at the gunshop today and you can still buy a glock cheaper.
price orignaily was one of the main contributing factors for going with an xd over a glock for me. maybe its just in my area but they are selling the 45 acp xd for 500 on "sale" and 530 normaly and every glock they had was 470 or less not on "sale" maybe its just the area im in how do the prices compare where you people live? |

About the same price around here I guess. The Service is going for about $525 or so, and the Tactical is going for $565. Of course this isn't necessarily Springfield doing this. My guess is that it is probably the dealers trying to make a little extra money on a new very popular gun. Personally I do not see a problem with this as $525 is still reasonable for what you get, and it helps the dealers stay around for an extended period of time. Could they sell it for $479 and still make money? Probably, but if selling it for a little more ensures that they are around next time I want to buy a gun I am happy to pay the price. I could have bought my Service model from Whittaker's online and saved some money, but that doesn't help me keep the local store in business the next time I want a new toy.

I have been quoted from $550 to $610 on a standard G21 with fixed sights. That is from 3 different stores. The extras included with the XD add to the value.

Price should not be the sole reason for getting a SA over a Glock and even it was, the difference between the two is marginal. More important is how the two guns compare in feel and shootability (for you, not for me, not for the so-called expert behind the counter.
Both are excellent weapons but for me, an XD always feels better in my smallish hands compared to any of the Glocks. I have owned both. Niether has given me any problems, both are solid performers. I like the XD better.

You can't blame the price of the XD45 on SA. The MSRP XD45 price is only $23 more than the MSRP of the XD9 and XD40. It's supply and demand. Low initial supply and very high demand has the dealers asking, and getting, more for the XD45. Prices will fall, as the newness wears off.
When you see dealers selling it for $453 or 459, and then others selling it for $500+, it's not SA setting the street price.

You also have to understand that the prices for the XD 45ACP is going to be a little inflated right now because of the the supply and demand. When Springfield has caught up with the demand, (or the demand settles down a little) I think you might find the the XD 45ACP a little cheaper than it is right now.

I wish Springfield would match Glock's LEO/Military/Fire/EMS discount program. That would be awesome! I can pick up a brand new Glock for $398.20 and it comes with 3 full-cap mags. I paid $500 for my XD and it only came with 2 mags.

The XD is a buttload more gun for the money! I'd gladly pay $499 for my again for my Service XD45 ACP over a cheaper Glock 21.
