Just picked up a XD-45ACP

Hello,

I just picked up an XD-45ACP Service Model for my dad. He was thrilled. I shoot a G21 all of the time, but whenever he tries it, he says it is just too big for his hands. I am very impressed with the fit and finish of the XD. I will actually get to shoot it tomorrow when we go to the range. He was amazed after I told him that it holds the same amount of rounds as my G21. If it shoots half as well as I think it will, Springfield has put one out of the park with this model. I think I got a fair price, it was $469 +$10 for the background check.

I am primarily a Glock shooter (don't hold that against me!) and I think Springfield is offering a firearm that is built like a tank, has a lifetime warranty, and actually IMHO has additional, very well thought out safety features for an extemely competitive price.

This pistol seems to have all of the makings of a real winner. I look forward to learning a lot from all of you.

Where is the best place to get the trigger work done, SA or CC?

Welcome to the forum. I had CC do my trigger work on a Tac-9, great work.
You got a very good deal on the XD45. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts after shooting the XD45, since you've shot the G21 for a while.

Took the XD45 out to the range today and it was very impressive. It was passed around and everyone who shot it enjoyed it. It hits to point of aim and digested 4 boxes of Blazer Clean Fire 230gr just fine. Springfield has done an outstanding job on this pistol. I think this thing is going to be a huge money maker for them.

wcook, if the activity on this board over the last 3 months is any indication, I think you're right

wcook, thanks for giving the devil his due. A lot of Glock owners won't. My son owns a Glock and I think it's a fine pistol. Just not for me. Not any one product suits everyone. Welcome to the board. There's a bunch of good info from a lot of good folks here. You and your dad enjoy the new XD. I think you got a real good deal on it too.
