Finish on the new XD

What are your opinions on how the finish is on the new XD .45acp? Ive never owned any older xd's but is the finish upgraded?

Ive never used a silicone wipe either but now that I got one I love wiping it down, its like putting shine on your old tires.

Right now it is just Melonite treated. It's 100x better than the old XD's. No frills matte black that's rust resistant. I like it better.

I like the look of the new melonite finish over the old bruniral or whatever it's called. From what I read the melonite is superior against rust and corrosion over the bruniral.

I only had one issue of minor surface rust on my XD9 and that was after a hurricane last year. The pistol was sitting out in the open under high heat and humidity because I was without power for over a week. I wiped it down real hard with a patch soaked with dura lube and I've never had a problem since. If your in doubt, oil it. Couldn't hurt.
