Canyon Creek Trigger Work
I'm very excited....After Rich did a trigger job on my XD9 Tactical a year or so ago, I sent him my XD45ACP Tactical recently. Unlike last time, Rich is busier and it's now 2 weeks (which is ultra fast still, I had a 1911 worked on locally and the 'smith took a 2 week vacation in the middle of this so it took almost a month). With my XD9, I received my gun 8 days after I had sent it in. I just got an email from Rich (I had emailed first) and the estimated delivery is tomorrow which would be 2 weeks from the day I sent it....Just hope the big brown truck delivers (it's sad as it shows how much stuff I buy, but I know my delivery person's route schedule...2 to 3PM...I can hardly wait!).
Just bought 4000 rounds of 200 gr SWC from someone who no longer reloads for $15/1000. Cheap fun.... |

Well, instead of UPS my gun was returned via Fed Express which is better, as Fed Express arrived at noon.
I quickly checked out the trigger. The triggler pull is not quite as good as my XD9 that was done a year ago; my XD9 is at 3.5 pounds with very little pretravel and a very crisp let off. The XD45ACP is right at or just a bit above 4 pounds (I asked for a target trigger which is listed between 2 to 4 pounds). There is a bit more pretravel before the crisp let off. I quickly went to the range and used 230 gr RN, 200 gr HP TC, and 200 gr semiwadcutters. The XD45acp handled all these without complaint. I was very happy to find that one 10 shot off hand group was just a bit over 3 inches. That's about the best I can do at 50 feet (as well as I can do with my XD9 Tactical). Before the trigger work my XD45ACP had a 6.5 pound trigger and as a best effort, I would get in a 5 shot offhand group at 50 feet, 4shots within 4 inches and a flier which would bring the overall group to 6 inches. I'm really going to enjoy shooting my XD45ACP now! Thanks, Rich! |
