New to the XD and 45ACP

I have two XD's coming that should be here this week. A XD-9 Sub Compact that will be shared with my wife. More exciting to me though is the XD-45ACP Tactical that is also on it's way.

I really love the look and feel of the Tactical model and figured if I was ever going to own a 45ACP (actually, never even fired one...), this was the gun to get. I can hardly wait.... Speaking of, what are a couple of the best practice and defense 45ACP rounds? 9mm rounds? Anything else I need to be aware of?

Congrats on the TWO XDs and welcome to the forum. For practice ammo, Winchester White Box (WWB) in either .45 or 9mm from Wally World is probably the easiest to get at reasonable prices. For PD rounds, lots to choose from, Hornady, Golden Sabers, and Winchester Ranger are all good self defense rounds (230gr for .45 or 124gr for 9mm). Never having shot a .45, I think you'll be surprised how well the XD45 Tactical feels and shoots

That's an understatement...the XD does not feel like shooting a 45. Much less recoil. My XD with 4" barrel has less felt recoil than my 1911 with 5" barrel.

That's good to hear. Maybe my wife will even enjoy shooting it. Oh... maybe that's not such a good thing...

Ah, yeah honey. It's about like shooting my Super Redhawk .44 mag. You know, one is a 44 and the other a 45... What, you don't want to try it? Well, okay. I understand...

I have to Roger that! I was completely surprised when firing my XD-45 Service Model. This truly is a wonderful pistol.

Congrats Fish! Get used to the 45 cuz your wife may not want to give up the 9SC after she uses it. My wife likes my 40SC a lil too much.
