XD 45 vs. USP 45
This is not a which manufacturer or handgun is better than the other thread.
I already own a HK USP 45 fullsize and an XD 9sc. I was just in the market for a new firearm and was looking at the new XD 45 and noticed that has a longer barrel than my USP. My only concern is....Is the grip and handling of the new XD easier, the same, or harder than the USP. Is there anyone out there who owns both? Thanks in advance, Richard |

I have a USP 45 fullsize and and XD45acp 5". I feel that the XD is far more comfortable in my hand. I also shoot the XD better. The XD sits lower in my hand, and I have better recoil control with it. The slide stop is easier to engage/disengage on the USP. My USP mags have the finger extension and I don't care for it. Trigger reset is slightly shorter on the USP. The USP lever type mag release is unique and may not be correctly manipulated under stress without aditional training. I think its easier to get the first round on target with the XD as it has no external thumb safety nor a double action first shot. All in all I think the XD has much better ergomonics and a more consistant shot to shot trigger. I shoot the XD 45 weekly and can't remember the last time I shot the USP.
Just my opinion, hope it helps a bit. |

Thanks for the info.
I have small hands but I love the fullsize USP 45 out of all my firearms. I think I shoot that one the most and best. I'll try to find a range that has the XD 45 acp to rent. Richard |
