Best price on ammo? Best range ammo to use in XD-45?

Ok...the other day I went to the local Wal-Mart in Dumfries, VA....they had 5 boxes of WWB 100PK in 45ACP....bought them all. Price per box was now $20.98/100. Used to be $18 according to the sporting goods employee. So with sales tax in VA of 5%, the previos price was approximately $18.90/100 which ends up being just under 19 cents per bullet. New price is now $22.02/100 which ends up being 22 cents per bullet.

After leaving this Wal-Mart I went up I-95 a very short ways and went to the Wal-Mart in Woodbridge, VA. They had the same price on WWB of course, however they had Remington UMC Mega Packs (250rds) for $49.32/box. The averaged out price on this is $0.20 per bullet (almost $0.21). While WWB is more than before, the UMC appears to be the same price I paid the last time I purchased ammo at Wal-Mart.

I have fired both in my Kimber with no noticeable difference in performance. I don't really care about some complaints I have seen about UMC being dirtier, because I clean my guns after each time I use them. I don't buy the crap about "Well how long can the gun go without cleaning????". You are spending $500 on a gun (for an XD), or even more for a Kimber. Why can't you afford a buck or so for cleaning products? Can you go several times without cleaning?....Sure, but why would you risk a misfire?

So anyways....while the price on ammo has gone up, it is still really cheap fun if you think about it. Does anyone know any cheaper places to buy ammo than Wal-Mart? Anything but Wolf would be good, but keeping in mind the shipping cost it still needs to be less than $0.22/bullet.

Here in NC Wally World has the same prices on the WWB/100... but right next to it I can get CCI Blazer Brass for $9.98/50. And Dick's Sporting Goods had Remington UMC on sale for $9.98/50 this week.

My local range sells Independence for $12.99/50, which is very steep, but they also sell a 500 round bulk pack for $88.00. I don't know the brand yet as they are out and still waiting on shipment.

I can get 500rnds of Wolf from Sportmansguide for around $77-78 shipped. It's a little dirty, and shoots "softer" than WWB (fps is less than WWB, so less felt recoil), but it works for me

Not a bad idea if I was shooting constantly. Thanks for all the suggestions.
