How well does the XML light fit the service models ?

I've read several comments on the XML light fitting loosely on the service models but tight on the SC models- Can anyone confirm this ? and how loose is it ? I was really wanting to get a tac light but didn't want to drop $200 plus on a surefire. The price for the XML looked good. But if it doesn't fit quite right then I will shell out the money to have a proper fit to my 45. Anyone have a good recomendation on to buy or not to buy?

Mine fits very well. I can move it slightly, it is not loose enought to notice if shaking the pistol.

Mine fits fine on my XD-9SC and my XD-40. I have pictures in my gun gallery, and on my XD pages (linked in my sig below).

i believe u need the newer frame with the 2 grooves. the older frames with 1 groove may have problems.

Mine fits very well.

I originally owned an XD40SC and purchased my XML for that weapon. I traded the XD40 SC on my XD45. Due to the fact that the XD45 is larger than the SC I think it actually fits better and is still very easy to reach and activate.

I have seen people make post on here stating the XML is loose on the XD45. On the XD40 SC light rail there was only one slot for the xml to latch into, on the XD45 there is two slots on the light rail to latch into. When mounting the light on the rail, if you let the light latch on to the first slot it is loose to the point it actually rattles. If you release the latch on the light and slide it back to the second slot it is very secure.

I wonder how many people have mounted the light to the first slot on the light rail and came to the conclusion that its a bad fit without realizing they could slide it back to the second rail for a superior fit.

You may want to check www.insightlights.com they make the xml for springfield. They have the X2 with a laser in the same basic size package coming out in april or may. It's shown on the on their web sight. It's more expensive.

I remember some people here inquired about these. i saw one today so i bought it. it fits super smooth on the XD, but tight fit on my sigpro, and tight fit on my AR15 rails.

overall pretty bright. although i haven't used any others to compare it to. definitely bright enough to easily clear a dark, fairly large room. its supposedly 65 Lumens by the way.

build quality....well, it ain't no sure fire then again its about a fourth of the price. probably wont take too much severe banging around, and definitely is not immersible to any depth. however i recommend it for a inexpensive nightstand gun light. if u wanna go to war...get the surefire. if you wanna see what went bump in the kitchen, then this will do.
