Question about tactical reassembly

Ok so I was gettin ammo at a local gunshop and lo and behold they had the Tactical 45, so knowing how rare they are right now, I snagged one. Now, when I read the manual about dissassembly/reassembly, it says the tacs do not have a captive recoil system. I have an XD40 SC and the Spring Assembly sits nicely and snugly on the back of the barrel. However, the 45 tac does not, it can move if you jiggle it. So my question is, how do I know I put the un-captive recoil assembly back into place correctly?

Pg 24 step 7. Remove the recoil spring assemply, from the slide. (Figure 24-1) NOTE: The 5" Tactical models do not have a captive recoil system. Therefore, care should be taken when dissasembling and reassembling the psitol.

Thats all it says.

Its cool no harm no foul. I just think it strange that the manual tells me to do it correctly and doesnt tell me HOW to do it correctly. I can move the slide back and forth and the slide release works. Id assume if I put it in incorrectly, It would not work like its suppsoed to.

I don't have a tactical, but I'd guess that if A, the spring is around the rod, B, the rod goes through the hole in the slide, and C, the other end of the rod wedges against the hook or lug or whatever you want to call it, that you did it right
