Pre-travel changed???
How can the pre-travel of the trigger be eliminated without changing the trigger #? I like the # on the trigger I just don't care for the pre-travel before I get to the sear release. Does any body have the info on this? I put a shim in between the trigger bar and the frame to take up the slack. It seems to work, but how to make it permanent is the question.
Of coarse there is probably a diferent way to do this right?

That is good info, thanks. But like you said I want to get rid of the pre-travel so I guess I will have to wait and see who comes up with the method.
There has got to be an easy way of doing this you know!

The pretravel has no effect on how well one can shoot the XD.
I like it myself because I am used to shooting Garands and other military rifles with two stage triggers. I would not remove the pre travel even if it was a quick and easy job. |

Apdl, that's what I am talking about. There has to be an easy way to take care of this. It seems to you could move the trigger bar pin that goes into the trigger back some. This would move the trigger bar so that it will remove the take up. It would be like having an adjustable trigger, you could start your shooting at the sear contact making it crisp and clean..

Problem solved!
I decided to fix the problem myself and I did. I took the trigger bar out and added metal to the ear that stops at the frame on the sear side. I would weld some metal to it and shape it to the length I needed. Took me about 2 hrs. to get it all right but it turned out well. The pre-travel has been cut down to about 1/8" on the trigger.
I also cleaned up all contact surfaces on the trigger system. It feels smooth and crisp. After work I'm going to take it to the range and see how well it shoots. I will let you guys know how it went.

Just got back from the range, put 200 round threw it and did not have any problems at all. Double taps were a breeze with the trigger as tight as it is. This modification has turned a good pistol into a great pistol.
All I have left to do is the sights and work something out with the grip being to slick. I hope to see more after market parts for this pistol in the future. I am a little bugged about SA stance on parts, but that just gives someone the opportunity to start a profitable business. I was surprised at how easy this pistol is to stirp down and re-assemble. Upon study of this pistol it does not take a genius to work on it or lower the # on the trigger. But for know I will leave that stock and shoot it for a while to see how it does. I would like to thank all you guys that helped me out with this although you were few.
