Anyone else have this occur?
Just picked up an XD in 45 ACP and mostly like the gun. My only real disappointment is the gun seems to string vertically upward as the barrel heats up. the first two rounds go in the same area but further rounds climb several inches at 7 yards. At 50 feet they will climb off a 100 yard rifle target with a center point of aim. This is wth about a second or so between shots, if the barrel is left for several minutes to cool the bullets will return to point of aim for the first two. With only 300 rounds through it so far there isn't enough wearing yet to get an idea if there is some barrel contact or if the problem is something else. am open to any ideas of what it might be. I have not had this occur with the two XD 40s I own so am inclined to think it is particular to this gun. The sights are also off a few inches left and low but that I am sure is not related to this problem. I also noticed an odd sound when the slide catch activates after the last round is fired. It reminds me of the final round when firing a Garand. Again I haven't noticed this with the 40s but found this odd. Thanks in advance for any deas or comments.

Mine stays accurate regardless of temp and round count.
This is interesting. Left and low huh??? Right handed? What ammo are you using?

Practice with it more, I had these and other weird problems until I got the gripping thing right. Now with 1200 rounds threw it it shoots as good as my CZ97B. This is the first plastic pistol for me so I had to learn how to shoot it. It's way different than my other metal pistols.

Are you doing this testing from a bench rest - or standing and holding the gun? I don't think two rounds would generate enough heat to make a difference in any of the metal/metal tolerances in the gun.

The sights are definitely off, the first two shots go to the same place every time if I let the barrel cool a bit. The windage is an easy drift fix and I'd guess the low impacts are due to my hold style as that also occurs with my 40s, especially as I mostly shoot 155 gr and 165 gr bullets. In the 45 ACP, this occurred regardless of ammo used, 230 gr Rem FMJ, Rem 230 gr HP, 230 gr Rem Golden Saber, 185 gr Win Silvertip, and 230 gr Lead RN reloads. I started off with the Rem FMJs and shot in the order listed above so doubt it is a lead build up. The rest of the shots string vertically as mentioned. I'm not a newcomer to shooting, not knowing who I am you wouldn't know I shoot a couple hundred rounds a week through a handgun so am adequately proficient with them. I first noticed the stringing firing off hand but it was really prominent when shot off the range's pistol rest. I have not had this stringing occur with either of my XD-40s nor can recall a similar occurance with any other pistol I've own. Rifles, yes and it was easy enough to know it is usually forearm to barrel contact and often can be noticable after only two shots. I guess I'll have to shoot it some more and see if any unusual shiny spots pop up. Failing that, I guess a call to Springfield will be in order.

Sounds as if you may be anticipating the recoil. Two shots is no where near enough to string shots with a autoloader.

It's not the gun. Your target is shrinking.
