XD-45ACP Bi-Tone will NOT be available in California

I just got an e-mail from a Springfield rep. She said that the bi-tone XD-45ACPs will not be available in California. Here's what she said:

Quote:
As you may or may not know, California changed its handgun requirements effective with all new firearms submitted after 12/31/05. We scrambled to get both the 4”and 5” models submitted before that deadline but were unable to submit all of the color configurations. California law only allows approval of one specific model in caliber, color and size so even if there is an exact duplicate with a simple color change it must be submitted separately. I’m sorry, but until either the new law changes or we change the design of the XD we will not be submitting any more XD’s for approval. It is not our choice but California law that dictates what we can and cannot do.
She also said that the only way I can get a silver slide is if I buy a regular black one and have it re-finished/nickel-plated

Sucks to be in CA sometimes

I guess I have no choice but to get the 45ACP in all black

for what its worth i had the 9mm service bi-tone and i have the .45acp new finish black. The .45acp with new finish is REALLY NICE. you wont be sorry if you get it. I like it better then the Bi-tone. But thats just my opinion i guess.

Move.

Don't look at the move as giving up a state to the pinko Commie tree huggers that took the state over...look at it as saving your guns from being there when the entire left coast falls off into the ocean.

I just escaped from there last Halloween after 35 years behind enemy lines. It sucks to be there ALL the time. I now live in the United States and New Mexico.

I went to my first gun show here 2 weeks ago and after spending 15 minutes with a dealer, I walked out with a new XD45. No Handgun Safety Cert, no thumb print or other stuff and NO 10 day waiting period. I can carry it loaded anywhere in my car..even on my person concealed without a permit. I can carry it openly here without a permit also. My Utah and Florida permits are good here now and my NM permit is pending.

So my statement is based on experience...not opinion. Sorry that you have to live in such an aweful place.

DAMN~!!!!

Both a friend of mine and i have been waiting for that thing to come out!!! I wanted a matching .45acp to go with my bi-tone .40.

Thats ridiculous that there is so much red tape in this state, but i can't say i put all the blame on CA for not having the bitone here. If i'm understanding the SA response correctly, they are saying they are unwilling to submit another XD for processing by the CA DOJ. Does that sound stupid to anyone else? In my opinion, thats a small investment for a company as large as SA to make to rake in some more XD sales. Doesnt SA know? Us tacky Californian's like that "bling" lol.
