Finally shot my XD 45 ACP today

I posted before asking about felt recoil and what to expect from the XD 45 service model. Although I listened to what every told me, it was better than I could have expected. IMO the recoil has more pull than snap back which to me was very nice and comfortable. Accuracey wise, it hit what I pointed it at and is probably more accurate than I am able to shoot it. I put about 700 rounds through it without any problems. Ammo ranged from 230 gr FMJ Independence, 185 gr Speer Gold Dot JHP, 230 FMJ reloads, & finally 185 gr LSWC reloads and it ate it all. I had read about the light primer strikes but I did not deal with any of that with my pistol. I intend to get back out and shoot another 1,000 rounds or so through it and test some different ammo brands as well and I will try to give an update if any one is interested. Any way, that was my day with this awsome pistol.

Congrats on the XD45. Man, that was some range session, 700rnds
It takes me 3 months to shoot that much Anyway, your experience was that of many, recoil less than expected, and just feels good!

Shoot well, let us know how your different ammo works.

Love life...

The wife was working today, and I already did all of my chores. That is how I was able to pull off 700 rounds at the range today. Of course my fingers are sore from loading my 2 mags so many times over and over. It was worth it though. I have my dealer trying to track down some extra mags for me so I don't have to reload so much.

One other thing...

Also I read some post on this forum and on others about the guide rod. One in particular I remeber, a gentleman said that after he shot his, his guide rod looked like it had sand paper taken to it and that it had gashes in it. I didn't have that problem either. I just wanted to add that for any one that was thinking of buying one of these pistols.

I had some light primer strikes yesterday but am happy to say that today after 112 rounds of my reloads with the same primers I had no problems. I don't take anything to heart on a new pistol until I have at least 500 round threw it. I am know at 422 rounds, thecloser I get the better it gets. But if I have any problems after 500 I will be sure sound off.

Wow Four! 700 in one session! I have had my XD-45 for a month now and only have 853 rounds through. But, my range reports are like yours. Flawless, butter, sweet, oh somebody stop me.

I was exhausted and sore after 300 rounds in my first session. Nice job.
