hey guys hope someone will give me some good news! i was painting my xd 45 tonight and could'nt get the saftey back in. thats not my problem. i put the side back on and was going to take it to my local gun shop for some help well the damn side won;t come off now am i screwed or what? i think it cocked so
thats why it won't go forward but since the gun is apart i can;t dry fire it to move the slide forward. so any help would be greatfull or i guess its off to Springfeild to get worked on thanks

If you're certain the gun is unloaded, put your hand on the rear of the slide and push it forward to the normal position. Pull the trigger while holding the slide in position and the slide should come off.

the gun is all apart there is no trigger just the top slide and the barrel thats it

stick a thin screw driver in the back of the slide and drop the sear manually.

Well it would seem to me that you would "stick a thin screw driver in the back of the slide and drop the sear manually" just like you were told.

Wait one second... Badseed... did you just say that you were painting your XD-45? I thought they looked quite dashing in all black. I wouldn't dare paint an XD, unless someone gave a pink one to me. But hey, it's your stuff, your money, I am not gonna knock it. Post some pics when you get it back together. It might just look good, and I may wind up with a foot in my mouth.

well i guess im screwed i tryed all damn day to release to sear with a screwdriver and i can;t seem to find the damn thing!! I fell like a jackass for do this . stupid!!!
