xd 45 shooting + P ammo

I just had a question, I accidentally bought some + P hollow point ammo and my store has a no return policy. Can the xd45 safely shoot the +P and will it cause any wear and tear to my gun? Thanks in advance guys.

No problem, fire away. Many guys use +P ammo, I use Win Ranger +P as my carry ammo.

It will seriously wear the barrel. I do not recommend. I will buy for 1/2 price and shoot it for you.

My XD 45 has fired quite a few 230 grain XTP's at well over 1,000 fps...

So, NO...factory +P ammo will not hurt your XD.

With factory +P you are good to go. It is the hand loaded +P from Bubba at the gun show I would be worried about.

+1 good to go. You dont want to shoot them all the time, because they are harder on the springs and such. That being said, I also carry the hornady xtp +p for personal defense.

To clarify my previous post...

I load mine to 45 Super specs...230 XTP's @ 1,100 fps for the really hot ones. However, I like them better at 1,000 fps...more accurate, less recoil.

How are you getting away with that power level in a 45ACP ?
What kind of cases are you using ?
Any high pressure signs ??
If not I'm thinking that would make a great short range deer load !!!
