Just ordered a 4" compact

Well went into my local gun store and had them put in an order on a 4" all black XD compact .45

in my long run of gun searching i had narrowed it down to a FNP-45 and the XD .45 Compact.

The deciding factor was the price. XD is 519 + tax and the FNP was 650 + tax.

I've held both (never got to fire either, no one around had them for rent) and dry fired them, liked the trigger on both. Really liked the feel of both in my hands.

The FNP is still on my list, just right now i didn't want to spend 141 extra dollars for it. that'll be another day when i have more saved up.

EDIT: the 519 is with an extra 13 round mag with the grip extension, so not only was it cheaper still then the FNP, but it was cheaper with another mag

yup i'm excited to be getting it.

oddly it seems like they've never had ANY of the .45 Compacts come through. the guy behind the counter had never heard of it, and the owner of the shop wasn't even sure what i meant. I had to give them the Springfield model number.

i asked if they only had the one in the case in stock (a .40 service) and the guy said yeah. said they don't order them anymore unless someone requests them because they don't sell very well.

thanks again. now i just gotta get a sub compact size pistol in .45

anyone suggest one that size? (except glocks, if they make them that small. don't like how glocks shoot. think its the grip angle)

Congrats OP, enjoy that pistol. I'm gonna get one of those myself for my first pistol/carry piece when I have a little cash. Be sure to give us a range report and pics when you get it.

Nice gun! I like the option that it gives you of using either the compact or the full magazine. Often wondered why SA hasn't offered that in the 4" XD9. Enjoy!
