One thing I would suggest is looking at your magazine springs. I have known a few people to have problem with the xd45 mag springs. I need to replace mine myself. They feel so weak compared to a normal mag spring tension.

Hi James, welcome to the forum. To answer your question, XD45s will feed hollow points reliably, with the possible exception of the Fed HST round, which has a wider hollow point cavity and some folks (not all) have problems with feeding those.

Most guns can be finicky with certain rounds too, just switch to a round which feeds 100% in your gun. I use Winchester Ranger T PD ammo, it's fed 100% in 4 different XD45s which I've owned over the years.

If the suggestions of polishing the feed ramp and/or moving up to better mag springs (https://www.agparms.com/home.php?cat=256) doesn't do the trick, then call SA and explain the situation.

Welcome to the forum, James. My XD45 Service has functioned flawlessly no matter what ammunition I use. It does sound like a feed ramp issue though.

Mine has no problem with 230 grain HSTs or Gold Dots.

Hm...this is the first I've seen have issues with HydraShoks, but there've been a number of posts about FTF's with HST...

Does it do it with other JHP's?

My .45C does not like SXT's. I need to send it back for some love. Feeds FMJ just fine.

Hi Guys,

First, thanks for the warm welcome! I've been a registered member here for quite some time, but this has been my first time posting. I'll have to try and stop in here more often and contribute when possible.

To answer some questions:
1. My magazines are factory original and came with the gun (which I bought new).

2. After looking over my notes from the range trip several months back when I had the issue, I see that I only ran Hydra-Shocks through it that day, and not any of the Remington UMC JHP rounds as I had mentioned in my first post. So, this has me thinking it may only be an issue with the Hydra-shocks.

****Update on my gun:****
I took the XD45 out yesterday morning and shot 75 rounds of 230 grain lead reloads with no issues at all. This includes slow firing, as well as some double taps and even a bit of rapid fire. Absolutely no issues.

I also ran 25 rounds of Remington UMC 230 grain JHP rounds through the gun with no failures to feed or any other malfunctions. Slow & rapid fire.

This leads me to believe that the issue may be isolated to the Hydra-shock rounds. I'm going to try and locate a few more boxes of the Remington JHP's just to verify that the gun will continue to feed them reliably.

Thanks for the help!

James
