No...it was my third XD with issues so I finally got a clue.
Although that sucks you had problems, from my experience that is definitely not the norm. I know several people (myself included) with 9, 40 and 45 cal XD's with thousands of rounds and no problems. Every company has an occasional problems, it is impossible to avoid. SA has very good customer service and I am fairly confident that could resolve your issue. I find it funny that most 1911 owners that paid over double what an XD cost have no problem adjusting and tweaking every little thing. Guns are just steel and plastic for the most part. everything can be resolved.

My brother, a Police LT in SoCal, is considering going to a 5" XD Tactical 45, because his Les Baer SRP just doesn't have the capacity he wants for the environment he is working in now....
don't get me wrong, I love XD's as much as anyone... but this kinda makes me want to cry...
I mean, going from a Baer SRP to a plain 'ole plastic pistol like everyone else...? it's just kind of sad...
if he wants to send it to a loving home for retirement, I'll gladly take it off his hands.

Man, what are the odds? Of all the things an XD is known for, unreliability isn't usually something that comes up. What kind of issues, if you don't mind?
My brother, a Police LT in SoCal, is considering going to a 5" XD Tactical 45, because his Les Baer SRP just doesn't have the capacity he wants for the environment he is working in now. There may be an issue, in that their department only uses Federal HST.
I have read a few reports about XD45s not feeding this round very well. And I have had a couple of rare FTFs with HST in my own XD45C, although it gobbles up everything else, except semi-wadcutters. It seems clear that there is at least a potential feeding problem with wide-mouthed HPs like HST, and flat nosed projectiles.
Does anybody know how widespread the issue is, and whether there is anything that can be done to make an XD45 feed HST more reliably? For example is there any slight re-shaping of the feed ramp that could increase reliability with this round?
For my own purposes with my 45C, I just went back to Federal Hydra Shoks and all is well. Unfortunately, choosing another round is not an option for my brother as it is for me.
If he tries it and it doesn't feed the HST he can send it to me and I'll give the xd a proper burial

I don't know...I sold them all before I bothered fixing them. XD9sc stopped liking Blazer after about 1500 rounds (probably tight chamber), XD40sc just had intermittent random failures, I don't like .40 anyways so it went real quick...the XD45c didn't like various hollow points after about 300-400 rounds. I bought it used. All got hung up on the feed ramp, which was polished.
My 1911's worked better then the XD's...they tend to have issues at the classes I'm at as well. Oh well...
What other stuff? I've looked into this quite a bit before I bought my own XD45, and the only SD ammo I have ever heard could be problematic in an XD is Federal HST.
I've personally tested every common, premium and not so premium hollow point I could find without a single failure, except HST, which FTF'd twice in three hundred rounds. Could I get your references for that info? Not doubting you, I just never heard it before anywhere. Thanks
By "stuff" I guess I was referring to Federal HST.
My XD45 Tactical shoots 230g Bonded Golden Sabers without a problem so that's what she's loaded with.
