recoil?

guy at local shop said the recoil on a 45 is about like a 357mah 4ich revolver. is this about right. i was thinking of passing up the XD9mm V10 and just get the 45 but i dont want something that is hard to do follow up shots

I guess it's just personal opinion, but my .357mag revolver has much more "kick", or muzzle flip than just about any .45ACP I've ever shot

I rather shoot 500rnds of .45 at the range than 50rnds of .357mag

Recoil is a very subjective experience...

Some do not feel any difference between +P 9 and 40, some feel a lot for example. I feel a lot.

I find any auto in 40/357/ACP/GAP easier to handle than a full power 357 Mag in a 4 inch wheelgun.

I thought the XDACP handled better than the XD in 40/357/GAP. Also better than the Glocks in 40/357/ACP/GAP.

Of course, YMMV.

I agree. I think the .357 mag has a lot more kick to it than my XD ACP. The ACP has a much more mellow recoil and is a beauty with the follow up IMO.

I've found that the recoil on 4" .357 revolvers is more than 45s.

I'm in agreement with the others. After shooting a 357 or 44 and then shooting the 45 there is no comparison. the 45 has a much slower(?) push. The mags have a stiff snap. Just my opinoin.

You'll find less muzzle flip with a .45 (more of a push back in your hand) as compared to a .40 S&W. As a result most people have quicker (more accurate) follow-up shots with the .45 Same goes for comparing to a .357Sig round, it has more flip than a .45, so follow-ups are a tad quicker with the .45ACP.

I actually find quick follow up shots easier with the 45acp over the 40. For me, it is more of a Push type of recoil, where as the 40 and 9 are more of an upward flip to me.
