Great information. Your work is appreciated! I'll be looking forward to the Ranger velocities, as I carry RA45T.

The SCHPs from Magtech (First Defense) and CorBon (DPX) the way to go in short bbl ACPs IMO. Speer's new SB (short Barrel) GD ammo should be good too.

The SCHPs seem to penetrate and expand just fine from anything through anything, even from short bbls.

Saw an anamolous Matech FD round that did not expand past .45 (just straightemed out the walls of the HP cavity), but oddly enough it did not over penetrate even at 1100 fps; stopped at 15 inches.

Before I did these test I decided to carry DPX's based on a friends advice and my internet research. My friend was at a recent Cor-Bon DPX gelatin testing session, and came back very impressed with the results. Interesting how the 185gr DPX has more velocity than the 165gr Magtech. Better standard deviation must mean Cor-Bon loads to tighter tolerances. All in all I’m sticking with DPX for now. That is unless the Double Tap, Federal HST, or Ranger T-series results impress me more. We’ll see.

Both SCHPs seem pretty good to me.

Would have to shoot a lot more from several dfferent lots to make any valid conclusions IMO (as far as quality).

When we tested through denim the std pressure 93g FD v 115g +P DPX, the FD expanded better, the DPX went deeper. The 40 FD/DPX were pretty much the same exp/pen. The 45 DPX got a little bigger, went a little deeper.

The FD has waaaaay more flash for sure! DPX is much better in that regard, no doubt about it.
