Sight Pusher for 45acp xd?

Hello, this is my first time to post. I just purchased an xd 45 acp yesterday and I'd like to install night sights on it. Will a SIG sight pusher work? If not, where can I find one that will? Does it matter which way the factory sights are pushed out (R to L or L to R)? Do all the XD's use the same size sights...ie the same size dovetails?

Thanks
Adam

+1...All good questions. I plan on doing the same since the XD doesn't come with night sights (for now). Which sights do most people prefer...Meprolight, Truglow, etc? I saw a set on a new Kimber and when the dealer took me into a dark room to let me see them, I was really impressed. Alot better than the factory black sights on my B.H.P..

Most sight pusher cost over $100. You would be better served having a local smith do the installation. I have a sight pusher and it works half of the time. The XD sights are so tight, that the pusher just binds and bends.

Hardly worth the investment for something youj may only need to do once. Agee. Take it to a pro. I love my TruGlos (fiber optic/Tritiums).

Night Sights

Hi Ideaboy,

I just bought a new XD-45 last night and I called Springfield today to ask then about the sights. They said the same sights that work with the XD-9, XD-40, XD-357 sig and the XD-45 GAP will work on the XD-45 ACP. Now, as far as what brand is the best, you will get alot of different opinions, so I will tell you mine. The kimber you looked at that you actually liked the night sights on were infact Meprolites. kimber bought out Meprolite ( tru-dot ) I myself have been using Meprolites for years with not one problem. They are just as bright today as when I first got them. As for the sight tool,,, My gunsmith hates putting sights on a XD, he does it but hates it, they are in there really tight. I pay him 30.00 and he installs them, And luckily he is in the same shop i go shooting in so if any adjustments are needed i just take it back to him and he will tap it one way or another. just my 2 cents Be Safe Dave

How's this from someone who has both: I have Meprolights on my XD40 Service and TruGlo fiber optic/Tritiums on my new XD45. My opinion? The Meprolights are great. The TruGlos are greater. Even brighter and "pickup" is virtually instantaneous. When it comes time to replacing my other sights - TruGlos it will be.

After reading OldSchool's post, I looked in my Natchez catalogue and found a "Universal Sight Installation Tool" for $348.97 plus S+H. Wow!! "Kinda pricey for a unique fixer upper". It would appear that unless you have alot of sights to install or plan on doing some gunsmithing, it would be smarter and alot cheaper to let someone else do it. Also, after checking out the different sights a little more, I think I will be using the TruGlo's also. Thanks for everyone's input.
