You have to remeber, these are first come first serve. Springfield Armory had a small Batch and these all went to one distributer. If your dealer had placed an order at the "wrong distributer" or buying group well other dealers who ordered from the right distributer actually picked them up first. Instead of yelling at SA have your dealer call all of his distributers and actually find out who really has them in stock vs just an alotment. But even then these are hot and under allocation, so you have to call and be put on the list.
I love this "Premier Dealers" stuff, I beat them all, by doing leg work and building the close ties with distributers. |

To ajamesp51,
Thanks for the info. I didn't realize that the dealers worked through distributors. I had always presumed that the dealers were tied into the company and got their products straight from them. This is helpful information and your post explains alot. I am in the process of getting my FFL 01 and when approved plan on dealing in firearms and gunsmithing. Presently I have an FFL 03 and knew that that was how C&R firearms were handled (through a distributor or importer) but didn't know that it was the same with the rest. That gives me somewhere to start. Now to find the distributors. Oh BTW, I just received an email and my dealer said she had received the 5" Black XD's this morning and Springfield said the others should be shipping soon. Again, Thanks.

Unfortunatly this would be what I would call "par" for SA. I stand firm on my many rants that if you call early in the month they will say "End of this month" if you call late they will say early next month no matter what you ask for. I have heard it every time I was waiting on something, and I to have been told that it would be time before shipping and had one show up at my dealer, who IS one of the leg work guys, the day they told me at SA that they HAD NOT shipped, but would in some period of time that they knew.
Sorry, james, I love what you do, you are a credit to all of us who love these guns but customer support and communication is SA's soft spot. It is pathetic. If I did not love their product so much, they fit me so well, I would have been done with them LONG AGO. Shame they don't look much at customer feed back, could make a great product much more popular. Quote:
