should I sell the 40 and get a 45???
Someone offered me $350 for my xd40 service. Thats less than I paid for it new! I was wondering what you guys would do. Get the 45 or just stick with the 40. If I dont sell it, I cant afford another one. The 45 kit at the local gun store is $524.00. Is that a good price?

It's all about the money...
You get 350 for your 9, and buy the 45 for 530. You'll be roughly 180 dollars out of pocket. My XD 45 is still on order. However, with that being said, after all that I have read regarding the XD 45, that wouldn't be such a bad deal. Then again, it also depends what you are going to use the XD 45 for. There are plenty of experts here that will chime in, but in my humble opinion, get the 45!!

I would wait. If you are not in the position to purchase the gun out right I would wait until the charm wears off and purchase the gun when the price comes down and when it will not hurt you financially. Another question, if SA comes out with a 10 mm a year from now are you going to want that? Have some patience.
In life 99.99% of the people ae slaves. Slave to a car, slave to a house payment, slave to a job. Do not be a slave to a gun or any other item. The secret to being well to do is to strive to not be a slave to material object or a company or what ever and the way to this is delayed gratification. Finally, http://www.pdhsc.com/showcase1.htm has the gun for $453.95 add $35.00 for shipping then a total of $483.95 that is where I purchased my XD45ACP. |

I've been contemplating selling my slightly modified XD 40 Tactical and picking up a xd 45 service model.

Depends on what ya want...
The guns are virtually the same size, they fit in the same holsters. They hold about the same number of rounds. The 40 is cheaper to buy and shoot. The 45 XD handles better than the 40 does IMO; YMMV. As far as terminal ballistics (penetration/expansion) the .45 starts out a little bigger but they end up about the same place from 4 inch bbls. ACP may have an edge from a 5 inch. Stopping power? Troopers in NV, AZ, NM, and TX used the 357 Mag, 45 ACP, 40 and 357SIG. They think the 40/357s stop better than the 45. But I think the ACP XD handles better than the 40/357, so I prefer it.
