+1!

I can't really understand the notion that some people have regarding the recoil of 45 ACP. I really feel it is the easiest of medium and large bore handgun cartridges to fire.

Something like a "roll" in regards to recoil, and it is spread over a longer period of time, so it just feels right.

Testing has revealed that the 230 grain bullet is more effective than other grains. Official testing that is. Federal B of I.

I am not disputing the effectivness of any bullet weight or loading. I was just makeing the point that recoil or atleast perceived recoil does not necessarily increase with bullet weight. I find the 230gr loads are easier to make follow-ups from because the recoil(to me) is more of a strait push than muzzle flip. So for me the 230gr is the bullet weight of choice. Because I can make faster follow-ups more accuratly.
Others may not have the same experiance. A good hit with a 185gr will beat a miss with a 230gr any day. Basically what I am saying is use what works best for you and your gun.

Good Shooting,

From FBI tests through heavy cloth, all from 5 inch bbls:

230 GS 16.6/.69
230 GS 18.9/.73 (different lot)
185 GS 16/.68

185 GD 14.75/.68
200+P GD 18.8/.55
230 GD 18.9/.59
230 GD 14.3/.70 (different lot)

Saw another test where the 185 GD at 950 fps through cloth did 14/.70... that's the same velocity ya get from the XDACP (does about 1050 from a 5 inch bbl).

It's a .45; you will be OK.
