1000 rounds through mine and not a single problem. I just took the whole slide apart and its barely dirty in the small places. This gun continues to amaze me on the range. Wednesday we go for 500 more. Reloading is fun, but you have to have empty brass, so I just keep shooting........its a vicious cycle.
And by the way, the new finish is WAY better. Even with 1000 rounds, the finish on the top of my barrel chamber isnt as worn as my 40 with only about 600 rounds through it.

I just picked up my new .45ACP XD and all I can say is that I hope it's as accurate as my 4" XD9. With that one I can put a shot to point of aim with no troubles. In fact, last time I took it to the range, I was consistently tearing out the centers of the targets. No problem with the sights on any other XD I own.

We need to get a few things strait. First off the biggest "gun snobs" on the planet are the 1911 only guys.
They refuse to believe that handgun design has improved since 1911 and they are by far the most full of **** people in the gun world. They constantly tell us how reliable their 1911's are but when you shoot with a few of them they have problems. Then they say their 1911 is 100% reliable IF they use a certain mag and ammo and it is spotless clean and properly lubed. For some strange reason they forgot to bring the right ammo and mags that day and they forgot to clean it last night. Now as far as the guy on TFL he is correct about some things. If you guys would bother to read THIS forum you would see that some people have had problems with their XD's. There are broken guide rods and locking blocks. There has been broken ejectors and problem extractors. There has been problems with the finish so either some of you can't read or you only wish to read certain things that tend to reinforce you fantasy that the XD is perfect. TFL is one of the worst boards on the net as far as disinformation. The majority of the posters there know about as much about gun design as I know about flying the space schuttle but while the poster you guys seem to have such a problem with could very well be a complete moron like the majority of his fellow TFL members he is right about some things. The XD is a fine gun and I own two of them and soon I will own three when I can afford to get the .45acp but I keep an open mind and understand that things made by human beings sometimes break. |

I pretty much agree with Bobby Lee. 1st, anything manmade is imperfect and bound to mess up. 2nd, anyone that believes that their's is the only way to go is a snob. I have a Brownig H.P. 9mm, an S&W Combat model 66 .357 mag, 3 Cz52's, have bought (has not arrived yet) a 5" Bi-Tone XD .45 ACP and plan on buying in the next few weeks a Sig GSR. I had held out on buying the XD hoping it would finally come out in .45 ACP and I had been trying to decide on the 1911 I wanted until I saw the features on the GSR. I think you should shoot what you like and let others have the same choice. JMO. I enjoy shooting all of the ones I already have and plan on enjoying those yet to come. Good and safe shooting.

I have a 1911 and an XD45 and both digest any type of ammo I put through them without a hitch. However, I also agree that any gun can and eventually WILL break in one way or another.
I had the barrel lug crack on my 1911 (albeit from a cheap improperly loaded round), and I had to "tune" the extractor to cure some FTRTB problems I had when I first bought the gun. I believe the puny barrel lug and link to be the "weak link" on the 1911. Apparently the compound recoil guide is the "weak link" on 3" and 4" XDs, although mine is still doing fine.

1200 rds of 230+p not a single problem!!!
I used to be a rabid Glock owner. I traded my G21 for an XD45acp and have never looked back.
This gun should scare the hell out of Glock and kimber and S&W

The problem w pissing contests is ya both get wet?
There are no perfect guns; everybody has had probs from time to time. Glocks were firing when dropped, slam firing, going full auto; that led to the 6 part upgrade of 92. They have had probs w trigger springs and bars, guide rods, extractors, ejectors, firing pin safeties, bbl lugs, locking blocks, magazines, and frame rails. What's that? 16 parts down and 17 to go? Some USP compacts have broken firing pins. SIG P229s have cracked frames and slides, we don't need to mention Beretta... There are some guns out there worth betting your life on; the XD is one of them IMO.
