The Malabar Front

Check out the holsters made by Raven Concealment Systems. You can run a permenantly mounted weapon light with their holsters. They've got dozens of combination. No cookie cutter one mold fits all designs.

Go here specifically:
The Malabar Front

I've got one on order for my XDm with a Surefire X400 on order.

Maybe you can ask about adding a thumb break if that's a requirement you have. Or a dual retention option.

I went with the Serpa for both the XD and my 1911 for several reasons. One is that a heavy gun like a fully loaded XD tactical has a lot of inertia. That means that once it gets moving it takes a lot to stop it. If you engage in vigorous outdoor activity like running, riding horses or four wheelers it is likely to bounce out of a friction retention holster. The lock button on the Serpa stops all of this. Also, I once read that something like one in five police officers shot in the line of duty were shot with their own weapon! For civilian open carry this is a serious consideration. What if somebody snatches your pistol? I want the locking button. Another feature I like is that the Serpa can be mounted on a thigh or shoulder rig and it can be angled a variety of ways to fit anywhere on your belt, even cross draw.

But doesn't pushing the button slow down your draw?

NO!

With a little practice your index finger lands right on the button and it becomes a natural part of your draw.

When I bought my xd45 tac, there were only a few full length holsters available. I got a blade-tech and it works great, also covers the barrel to keep it from getting nicked or scratched.

Safariland 6378

360 degree image SAFARILAND™ [360° Views Model 6378] : Holsters, Belts, Duty Gear, & Accessories for Law Enforcement, Military, Competition, and Sporting Enthusiasts

I like it because it is suede lined, covers the entire barrel, and comes with a belt loop attachment

I use the Blackhawk Serpa for both an XD9 and a full size 1911. I like the way it goes click when I return the pistol to the holster. Keeps it secure and with a little practice, which we should all be doing, the Serpa retention system is a quick and anything else I have.

I am casting another vote for the Serpa. I have one for my XD45 and for my 1911. I like the retention on it for OC, just in case. I still have yet to hear a credible case of an OCer having his gun taken but that is a risk I would like to mitigate as much as possible. Even my OWB Bianchi Model 82 Carry-Lok has level 2 retention.
