Mag Release (sticking) mostly resolved....

In a prior post, I had complained about an extremely sticky mag release. After getting ticked that I couldn't figure it out, I decided to wear it out! I cycled the mag release about 300 times today. Then, I used some TW-25B grease on the two camming surfaces (w/Q-tips). It is 92% better already. For some reason, I did not get the performance I wanted until I used the TW-25B grease which appears to work better (in this particular application) than my favorite lube, i.e., FP-10. The light synthetic grease provided a much slicker application than the oil. Overall -- I would say that the tolerances on the Springfield are tighter than my G19, so there will be a definite break-in period with it (kind of like the tight Kahr P9). On the XD series, the mag release and catch mechanism appear to built like a tank, and there is major metal to metal contact. Perhaps over time, the thing will wear and break-in and be smoother. It takes a good push to get the mag released when the slide is shut. When the slide is open, it is easier to push the mag release in. I'm not sure why...perhaps it is designed that way. Springfield said they would send me a mag release, catch, and spring if I desired.

We'll see how this thing breaks in over the next year. I bet with use...it will break-in and be very smooth. Thanks for the help.
