Arkansas,
I am using a Galco Concealable Belt Holster for the 4" Service Model: http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterG3.asp...2739&GunID=223. I have been carrying a Kimber CDP Compact and a Wilson Combat CQB Compact in a Galco Concealable Belt Holster for several years now. After I received my XD .45 ACP, I searched for a different type holster, but came full circle and ordered the Galco. The XD 4" Service Model fits very snug and does need some breaking in, but it rides at a good level and has a forward cant to it which lets the muzzle ride higher and helps access to the pistol when sitting. My XD does not extend past the bottom of the holster. The Galco pulls the XD in close to my side, which I like as it helps to conceal it. As I carry concealed, I practice drawing and firing with my Carhart shirt on with the shirt-tails hanging over the holster and gun or with a long enough jacket to offer concealment. I have become very confident in this holster. I am sure there are many holsters out there that would work fine. In my opinion, this holster is one that offers a good platform for conceal carry.

Kramerleather.com holsters are nice. I have 2 of them and the horsehide holds its shape well and the leather is water resistant. (The Seals have used them).

Does anybody know if the Don Hume's IWB leather holster with the open top for the other XDs will fit the XD45?

xd holsters
I think the "xd gear" is cheap and was an unnecessary addtion to the release of the .45. I immediately purchased my own holster. I was worried about its dependability.

Yeah, I don't know why SA is wasting the effort on that junk. Give me an extra magazine or something I can USE. Theres NO maker that is going to provide me with a holster that I am going to use...sorry!

XD45 Concealment holster
I spoke to the folks at Milt Sparks the other day and they just happened to have a Watch Six concealment holster in black, right-hand for the XD9 4-inch pistol. I purchased it and guess what... it fits the XD45 PERFECTLY. Very slim, but different if you're used to a Summer Special type rig.
Link to the description/pix here: http://www.miltsparks.com/Watch_Six.htm It's really a slim holster - some folks might have a little trouble re-holstering 'cause there's no reinforcing band around the opening, but I manage just fine. I'm just amazed after years of packing a 1911 compact that I can comfortably carry Tactical Tupperware, and so easily! The holster feels secure, and I'm glad I didn't let the initial photos of the rig put me off... it's very thin and very comfortable. Rangemaster "You can never miss fast enough to win..." |
