It rules! Another "first impressions" post

My XD-45ACP had it's inagural run today. I personally cleaned and lubed it before I took it out for it's first run. I am a maintanence nut.

I fed it 200 rounds of WWB.
It functioned flawlessly.
It is every bit as accurate as I thought it would be.
It was easier to handle than I thought it would be.
The mags were not difficult to load up like my new 9 and .40 mags were.
This was the first time someone asked me for my brass at the range.

I have an XD-9SC and my XD-45ACP was honestly no more difficult to handle...which is to say, pretty easy. I actually find it much more pleasant to shoot than I do my XD-40SC.

My XD-40SC may be finding a new home VERY soon.

This is my first .45 and I love it. As soon as I can find the right holster this will probably be my CCW gun and is DEFINITELY the new nightstand gun!

I forgot to mention while I was loading my mags this "cool guy" sets up next to me with his "box-o-guns". He had a really nice pink sweater on. I see he has a Kel-Tec P3AT, some sort of old Beretta 9, a Ruger something or other and an XD-40 Service. They were all loose in a dingy cardboard box banging into each other. They all looked to be D grade at absolute best.

He sees my XD and the first thing he says is "how much did you pay for it?" I said "$499" He picks up his XD-40 and proudly says "$300!!!!!!!"
I then begin to explain that mine is the new .45ACP and his has been out for quite a while and was obviously purchase used, etc.. He starts muttering about the difference of "knockdown power" between the .40 and the .45ACP and how the .40 is a "HIGH PRESSURE ROUND" etc. He said that part very loudly. HIGH PRESSURE ROUND!!!

I just walked away while he was trying to "show me" how much better the XD-40 was by handing me his LOADED gun while it was POINTED at his DAD!!!

His guns LITERALLY looked like they had been dragged behind a truck over the entire continental US and back.....and maybe across the ocean to Hawaii. I can't believe this dimwhit paid $300 for XD he had...although it is cool to know that it still works even when pink sweater guy leaves them in a cardboard box and has obviously never cleaned them....and has dropped it on every hard surface available consistently for the last year or two.

He took his target out the entire LENGTH of the range (50 FT) and picked up guns randomly between shots of NO discerning order and actually shot my target once that was 30 feet in front and to the left of his. Meanwhile he was shouting to his dad, or whoever this dude was that was staring at me with him, about how ALL of the "sights are off". He rarely hit his own target. It was the craziest thing I've seen to date at the range....ever.

This arse doesnt deserve an XD...what is wrong with people?

There should SERIOUSLY be an aptitude test to own a firearm.

Add to that, a test before having kids. I've had similiar encounters over the years, but unfortunately I'm not surprised. Just watch/listen to the news..."man shoots himself with gun, sues manufacturer". Unbelieveable.

I think I would have left the range and come back when that guy was gone. He sounded like a hazard to himself and everyone else at the range.

That guy sounds like most of the Glock shooters I see at our range. Seriously! Minus the pink sweater. Most of these wankers have seen Glocks in too many movies. they can't hit **** with them, either.

(at our range, the idiots on the pistol range usually have Glocks and on the rifle range, they have AKs...don't know why, but this is what I see the most)

XD shooters? To be honest, I don't see than many at our range. Alot of 1911 shooters and Sig and 44 mag revolver guys on the pistol range. I have seen a few peopel shooting XDs and they looked pretty normal. All were shooting Service 9mms, though.

The first time the muzzle crossed the line, I would have been at the counter asking for my money back for my range fee and then I would have been out of there. Let the owner deal with it.
