This is the one I use and works very well mounted to my bedframe. Can be mounted just about anywhere, vertical or horizontal. No elec. or batteries.

Both DAC and ADG sell discount versions of the gun vault. I tried both of them as another (can't remember the brand) before sending them back and getting a gun vault. The cheap safes just aren't secure. I had no problem opening them with my bare hands without damaging them (or using the key / combo). They are CA DOJ certified (which shows how much that really means), so they are good if you only care about compliance with safe storage laws, but if you want to keep kids or burglars out, go with gun vault. I keep mine bolted to a nightstand with the door open when I'm sleeping next to it.

Here's a pic of my box mounted to my bedframe. Very quick and easy to get to your gun. I leave it open at night and when I get up I close the lid. When I make the bed the bedspread covers the box. No one knows it's there.

Is this thing spot on everytime? I've heard horror stories of biometric boxes not reading properly when most needed. Have you ever had difficulty openning the box?

Sorry for the late reply. I purchased mine from Natchez Shooters Supplies
When I bought mine earlier this year, they had them listed for $99. Not sure if that was a sale price at the time, or just what they were charging. In checking today, it looks as though the cost went up about $10.
It also helped that I got free shipping at the time too!
