just what I wanted to hear. I was waiting for this gun forever (or it seems that way). When SA introduced the XD9 I was excited the same with the 40 and 357, but the announcement in 45 I was wating for came in the form of GAP. YUCH!!! I have always been in line with the 1911 and when the military got rid of them for the 9's it broke my heart.

I used to carry a 1911(colt) for a long time and during my divorce I sold all of my guns. I am now ready to get back in the saddle and think I have found the correct saddle.

Sorry for the rambling.

The XD45 has some of the qualities that I am looking for in a 45. I just dont have the hands on experience to make a good judgement and I need your help with this. So for those of you that have had the opportunity to shoot both the XD45 and the G30, how do they compare?
I'm guessing the recoil is really inconsequential..
If you adapt quickly it shouldn't be a problem, though you can't go wrong with 13 rounds of ACP ammunition ready to fire.

I've had the Glock 30, Glock 21, and a USP .45, both full and compact. I really didn't notice any difference in any of them as far as recoil goes. I didn't shoot the Glocks all that well; the grip angle just wasn't right for me. I did about equally well with either of the USPs and my XD45. I like the feel of the XD better than the USP, though.

Although I can't speak for the Glock, I don't own one, I can say that I was very impressed by the low felt recoil when I fired my XD-45ACP for the first time. I also have the XD-40SC, which I love, but the recoil of the XD-45 is much better. I am so happy with the XD-45 I plan to use it in competition, and needless to say I would certainly feel good about 13+1 rounds for CC. Go with the XD-45, and you won't regret the decision!

Felt recoil is such a subjective and personal thing but my purely subjective assesment is that the Glock 30 has a somewhat softer recoil than does the XD45 ACP. However, because of its longer grip I feel that the XD is somewhat more controllable and feels better in my hand. FWIW
