Factory 230 gr hardball test -
Loaded four magazines. Two were the ones that came with the pistol with the original factory springs reinstalled. Two were new factory mags I bought through a vendor and had the AGP extra power springs. No failures of any kind. All mags were loaded with 13 rounds except one of the original mags with the standard springs got 12 rounds. That mag had every other round's bullet blackened with a Sharpie. Fired one round and hand ejected the next one (with blackened bullet), fired next, hand ejected, etc. I ended up with 6 test bullets that had been fed through the normal firing cycle. See two pics below. The harder surface of the copper jacket does not show the contact points as well but well enough they are visible on most rounds. The third arrow near the tip is where I think the round is encountering a burr at the relief cut in the barrel hood for the loaded chamber indicator. ![]() ![]() I am avoiding any more mods to the pistol until SA has a chance to look at it. All I have done so far is the bevel on the forward inside edge of the magazines and polished the feed ramps. Next up I will remeasure every measurement to confirm them, compare those to whatever comes in from others, and post the results here. I have gotten access to a friend's XD45 but it is 45 miles away right now. More when I have it. CX |

Shoots just about everything factory: wide mouth HP, RN, FN, TC with copper cladding. Have not tried lead yet. So no real challenges so far. Will not try SWC due to potential mag damages even if it feeds. Have Rainier and Berry's (plated) and Precision Delta (clad) for reloading when I start. Stock springs in stock mags and AGP springs with AGP mag extenders. Measurements taken with stock barrel.

Signing on for updates.
My XD-45 is doing this same thing exactly. Very frustrating. My earlier model XD-45 shot flawlessly, even after 6500+ rounds. The mag springs were really soft. Gun ran like a swiss watch. I'd like to hear what the fix is. Sure seems to be a factory fitment/maching issue, but it would be nice if someone figures out a way to fix this. I have so much money in my gun that I'd rather fix it than replace it. I've even thought about switching to an XD-9mm, so- as a .45 guy, you know I'm frustrated.

So I did some measurements at home with mine. I will post them up later when I have some time.
My 45 ran great with brass cased UMC stuff. It seems that the Wolf garbage is my only sticking point. Brass = reliable feeding Mild steel = FTFs

Mine is doing it with Winchester white box, Blazer Brass, and various reloads.
It's not the ammo. It also does it with multiple mags.

I guess I won't be posting my measurements of my XD. I left them at home.
I measured some ammo as well to see if it could possibly be that. Here's what I got: Wolf: 1.268 1.269 1.267 1.268 1.268 1.264 1.264 1.266 1.264 1.270 UMC: 1.256 1.256 1.260 1.253 1.270 1.258 1.259 1.256 1.255 1.270 Hornady (self defence +P): 1.233 1.231 1.214 1.230 1.231 1.230 1.229 1.229 1.230 1.231 A-Zoom snap caps (why not): 1.266 1.265 1.258 1.263 1.254 1.265 The brass stuff was 100% reliable yesterday out shooting. The Wolf will FTFeed several rounds in the very first mag wether the pistol is clean or not. The UMC stuff was ran through a dirty XD Comments?
