I had the same exact problem when I bought mine and struggled to get 150 rounds through it with all of the FTF's I was expieriencing. I sent it back to SA and got it back in a week. The service sheet said "Replaced both magazines and polished the feeding ramp." Since I've gotten it back I've shot over a 1000 rounds through it and haven't had a single FTF issue or any issue of any kind. I'd send yours back in, it changed my entire expierience and the turn around time was short.

200 rounds through it tonight and one nose dive in the second mag, but this one wasn't as deep as others. Looked like it hung on the lower edge of the feed ramp this time. And the impact damage on the lead RN's aren't as severe as before. This time the lip of the case of the round in the mag is not being hit at all. Before it was showing signs of contact on every round.

Better but not great yet....

Remember, the new XD-45 mags are coming from the factory with stiffer springs now...

Sorry if i am re-stating the obvious. But isn't the achilles heal of the XD45 that it doesn't feed semi wadcutters worth a darn? That is well known, is it not?

This may have been previously discussed but are these reload only rounds that your pushing through your XD? Have you attempted to use a standard round nose bullet as opposed to the semi-wadcutter bullet I saw in the earlier pictures?

XD's don't shoot semi-wadcutters well at all. I tried them a few years ago and gave up on them.

The pics CX posted don't look like semi-wadcutters though- they look like standard FP rounds to me. (Flat Point)
All the semi-wadcutters I've ever seen had a much more pronounced ridge at the base of the bullet, where it just extends past the case- like this:

I don't use FP bullets, but I don't know why they'd be a problem. They are basically the same shape/configuration as many hollow point defensive rounds. XD's shoot most hollow points just fine.

I believe it's the shoulder ridge of the semi-wadcutter (not the point) that causes the problem with feeding in the XD's.

Good point. What, then, does a semi-wadcutter look like, i thought that's what these were?

DPGKirk: You're definitely right. I went back to the first page and looked at the bullet in question. I most certainly does not have the pronounced shoulder of a semi-wadcutter, or keith SWC as I was originally thinking.

I'm just trying to rule out the basics, even though I'm sure they've been ruled out: any chance the brass has been stretched outside of limits, hence that "catch" on all the apparent rounds?

Did you see the pic right above your post?

I doubt it. There's been all kinds of speculation, but I'm convinced that there's a problem with some of the clearances in some of the XD .45's.
I think it's related mostly to the barrel fitment.

I believe a previous poster who shimmed his barrel is on to the issue. SA replaced my barrel with a match grade barrel and my gun works like a charm now. That speaks loudly to me as to where the problem lies.

Obviously, the degree of severity differs widely here and all guns may not be suffering from the exact same issue.

I was told by a source that I trust completely that SA had changed their locking block dimensions a while back on the .45's.
The guy I spoke to at SA said they didn't know anything about that.

It would explain why the earlier XD .45's seemed to be more trouble free and more recent models started exhibiting this particular issue. Regardless, I don't recall hearing about this type of malfunction happening a couple of years ago. My first XD .45 would shoot dirt clods!
