new guy just saying hello...
hey everyone, i am brand new her at the forum... i thought i would drop by and say hello, and that i have been lurking on this board for about a month or so now, reading about the xd line of guns...
i have been a glock owner for over 10 years now, and i didnt really get used to em for awhile... i have been waiting for someone to come out with something similar to glock, but with some type of extra safety features other than just what glock offers (true, the one between the ears is the best, but i have never felt completely comfortable with glock safety when it comes to holstering and unholstering the gun when carrying concealed... i know a good holster should keep any ADs from happening while holstered, but its the unholstering and holstering process that has always irked me... i have always said that if someone comes out with a gun similar to a glock with an extra safety on it, that i would buy one... i went and held the xd 40, and it is MUCH smaller than the glock variant of the same gun, which is great for me due to having the girly-man hands syndrome, lol... now that i have seen the xd 45 acp, i will be selling my glocks to get one... also, i have always wanted to get a small defensive gun for the wife (she wants her own gun too, so im not pushing this on her, lol), but she doesnt really much care for revolvers... she actually likes autos more... i have been looking for a gun i feel comfortable with her having (simple operation, yet with some safety not afforded by the glock) upon going to the gun store and seeing and holding the xd9 sub-compact bi-tone, and then me explaining the grip safety and how it works, she is now sold!!! she says this is the perfect ladies gun (and i tend to agree... enough firepower to stop someone, and a bit more capacity... cause after all, if anyone NEEDS a gun to have more stopping power, it is a female, due to the fact that they, unlike men, cant put up much of a physical defense against an attacker if they experience a "failure to stop" the threat.) and now they come out with an xd in 45acp!!! finally a gun small enough to fit my hands well that has big bore power with high capacity!!!! we are a glock family, who is switching to xds'.... and i think this will be happening alot... many folks just arent comfy with the no external safety feature of the glocks when it comes to ccw.... springfield will be the new leader of the polymer framed pistol market i think..... and it is a GOOD THING!!!

Welcome to the forum. I have to agree with you, having owned just about every caliber which Glock makes. I just never could get used to the grip angle. I'm not alone in this, and I think that's what a lot of folks like about the XD, it just feels better in their hand, which is a winner from the start

Welcome to the HS/XD fun house. You will enjoy the XD. Like any family, the XD gets lonely by itself, so they multiply..and multiply...and multiply.
Happy shooting! |
