Why did you buy the XD-45?
I got to shoot my friends XD-45 Compact Service with the 4" tube... and it fit my hands perfectly, functioned flawlessly and was very accurate...
![]() Then I started my search... A week later, I found my "baby"... and I was not disappointed... ![]() ![]() On the way home from my dealer, I stopped at an indoor range, and I was not disappointed... My first shot was low left, then I started tracking better, and all this right out of the box... Before I left the range, I was doing "double-tap body/single head" drills. Perfect funtion and accurate. What more could a guy ask for? |

I had the Smith M&P line of handguns. And they are great firearms, but once I held the XD 45c I was sold. It felt great in the hand, 99% of my other handguns are .45's and it gives me a great option for conceal carry.

I had several reasons. I was in the market for a handgun platform - a line of guns that offered multiple frame sizes and calibers that still all function the same way. I wanted the option of large capacity and a polymer frame to reduce the weight so that led me to the XD, Glock and M&P lines.
I ruled out the M&P line because they don't offer as many frame sizes as XD/Glock. I don't even know if they offered a compact at the time. I reload and shoot a lot of lead-cast bullets so that pretty much ruled out the Glock line, thanks to their polygonal rifling. I know many people swear there won't be problems but I didn't want to take any chances. Plus I could never find a straight answer to the whole "fully supported chamber" question about Glocks. The XD was the only line that met all of my criteria. It was really just a process of elimination. On top of all that they just feel great in your hand... |

Reason I bought an XD 45. I can shoot the thing better than any 45 I've ever owned. I own A 70 Series Gold Cup and in the past have owned 3 Sig 220's. Never could shoot the Sigs. Just didn't fit my hand. Gold cup is OK. XD fits and goes where I point it. Best shooting 45 on the market as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I wish XD could do better is get it to feed SWC's. I reload and have a ton of those bullets.

Nice choice - congrats! I bought mine for many of the reasons listed above then I went and bought an SC to add to the tool kit.
Something really got my attention with your photos and that is that photo of the loser with the rifle pointed at us. I looked at it and thought man, THAT is what it feels like to have a weapon pointed at you!? It's kind of sobering. I think I'll get such a target and practice with it because I can imagine how distracting that little black hole can be. In fact, I wonder if you shot low and to the left because your attention was sub-consiously on the enemy's weapon!? Who knows but that's what struck me. Anyway, thanks for sharing - nice piece!
