It was the first double stack 45 that fit my hand...
I had the single stack 1911 in the past, and liked the round, but the 1911 didn't fit my hand well. The Glock was too big in 45, so I was looking at the G-23. Sales dude handed me the XD-45, and let me look it over. when I saw it was a 45, I had a hard time not buying it right then. I came home and did some internet reading, and went back for it the next evening.

Same comments basically: As soon as I picked it up it felt natural in my hand. I fired one and shot better than I did with any of my other pistols or any of the GLKs I fired also. I will probably never own another different carry gun than the XD45 compact 4". Also I train with lots of people who use GLKs for obvious reasons and I have seen (albeit rare) even these stovepipe or even type 3 malfunction, and with plenty of thousands of practice rounds, my XD has NEVER malfunctioned once.

I bought a Tactical, used it in a couple of IDPA shoots since my CZ SP-01 didn't fit into any IDPA category. Liked it, but stopped shooting IDPA (due to distance), sold it thinking I'd like a double stack 1911 better. I did buy a Charles Daly M5 Commander; shot it, bit the web of my hand, didn't care for the recoil, and now I'm looking for another XD-45 in a compact this time.

Reason...
Hello,
As an avid shooter and loader, I collect all manner of firearms. I was unable to say no to a $350.00 deal. Mine is Dark Earth and Black and included the kit and five hi-cap magazines. I was finally in the right place at the right time... I had seen the XD45 a few times and loved its feeland handling, even though I am a diehard 1911 fan. I have been very pleased at its performance, reliability, capacity and aesthetic. Glad to be aboard the XD Family.

Not Sure
I tried not to. I attempted to talk myself into a lot of other guns but kept coming back to this.
It is definately the most natural draw of any gun in it's class for me. I guess that's why it just felt right. SA customer service, accuracy, reliability and the fact that every size and caliber XD I've ever shot has gone flawlessly also were significant factors. No buyer remorse so I guess I made the right call.

Went to Gander mountain looking for a carry piece when I caught a glimpse of the dark earth .45 tactical. It was so ugly yet os beautiful. The sales rep asked if I wanted to check it out and as soon as it hit my hands I knew Ihad to have it.

My XD-45 service (4") pistol fits my hand, had good reviews and is simple to tear down for cleaning. It also seems to be very tolerant of different brands of ammo... It's still fairly new, and I'm still putting rounds through it (still less than 1000) but I'm so far still very satisfied with it. While it's not my first gun, it is my first 'hand' gun. So I wanted something very reliable accurate and easy to maintain. The price (at the time) was also easy on my wallet.
